Corrections department keeps LSU for telemedicine

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana's corrections department has tweaked its plan to hire a Texas company to provide medical care for inmates in state prisoners.

Lawmakers had complained when the Department of Corrections chose Texas-based U.S. Telehealth to provide telemedicine services that had previously been done by LSU.

Corrections Undersecretary Thomas Bickham told The Advocate (http://bit.ly/13xs5nF ) on Monday that LSU's School of Medicine will keep the contract to provide services for prisoners in south Louisiana prisons.

U.S. Telehealth will have the telemedicine contract for state prisons in north Louisiana.
