Repeating Jesus' last words from the cross, condemned inmate Peter Miniel was executed last Wednesday evening for the beating and stabbing death of a Houston man in 1988. "Into your hands, oh Lord, I commend my spirit. Amen. I'm ready," Miniel said. He was pronounced dead at 6:22 p.m. Miniel, 42, had asked his attorney to file no more appeals. "I'm ready for them to get me," Miniel said in a recent interview. "I'm ready to pay the price." Miniel was the 15th Texas prisoner executed this year. A Harris County jury in 1988 took only five minutes to convict Miniel for killing Paul Manier, 20. |
