New executive director pledges to move Department of Corrections forward after death of Tom Clements |

On the eve of taking over as executive director of the Colorado Department of Corrections, Rick Raemisch pledged to move the department forward, while promising a full review of the programs and measures in place for inmates and parolees. Raemisch, former head of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, was named to replace slain director Tom Clements by Gov. John Hickenlooper in June. Hickenlooper said Raemisch's experience as a deputy sheriff, prosecutor, elected sheriff and head of Wisconsin's corrections department - where he was responsible for more than 22,000 inmates and more than 73,000 parolees - made him a perfect fit for the position.
