Corrections officer involved in shooting |

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - An off-duty corrections officer from Essex County, NJ was fired upon in Newark as he got out of his private car, said Acting Prosecutor Carolyn Murray. The shootings took place about 3 a.m. on Monday. The officer was approached by three gunman who opened fire missing the officer, said Murray.
