Changing your Mind |

Making promises and then changing your mind may have serious consequences for people whether they are ordinary in social standings or public officials / employees or business leaders. There are many different reasons for such a reversal but in almost all cases, it requires you to renege on your promises of the past and do things you either did not plan to do or are forced to do. Moreover, you have to be careful as there may be legal and moral consequences for such a change of mind and could very well change your supporters’ viewpoints on your commitment to your job or position as an public official or employee, an organizational leader and game changer. What can motivate someone to change their mind? The most common reason I suspect is the perceptions or opinions of others where you stand on a certain issues or political concerns. This perception can impact your standing with your peers, your subordinates, and your social relationships and may also impact your reputation. Furthermore, a person can change their mind when factors such as a change in their social or political relationships with others or the threat of potential loss of income or opportunities come about where you have to make a decision that was contrary to your original commitment or obligation as promised or expressed. We all know the keeping of promises is important to anybody’s mind. It speaks volumes for a person that keeps their word as well as their integrity to do so. Therefore, changing one’s mind can have a long range of ramifications that are often measured in words of “honor” or “ethics” and can be judged by your connections or associations. It may also be prompted by current events that were impacted by research, education or your morality and introspect as well as lessons learned. In conclusion, it appears to be most vital “why” you changed your mind as well as “when” you changed your mind that adds to the dimension that creates a better understanding of the process how your changed your mind and how your commitment has altered your thoughts that may have been influenced either by a sociopolitical intimidating restriction or legal and moral restraints. So whenever you sense your ideas or commitment have changed for the good or for the bad, it is likely connected to your fears of social or professional rejection or harm of reputation than anything else in the community or workplace.
