RCC offenders earn state/national recognition |

A group of Rayburn Correctional Center inmates was among those recognized during graduation ceremonies last week in Baton Rouge as the first offenders in the country to earn national certification in sign language interpretation. The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections held the graduation for a total of 10 RCC, Louisiana State Penitentiary and Elayn Hunt Correctional Center inmates who recently completed a three-year sign language interpretation program. The class is the second to complete the program, and six students from the two classes have earned national certification, which makes it possible for them to interpret in various public settings.
