| Convicted Oregon murderer found dead in prison victim of homicide |

SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- Investigators determined Sunday that a convicted murderer who was found dead at the Oregon State Penitentiary Saturday was the victim of homicide. The Department of Corrections says 45-year-old Joseph Akins was found in his cell Saturday morning. After an autopsy was conducted by the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office, officials determined Akins died of "inflicted trauma." A suspect in the death was identified and was held in segregation while the investigation continues. Read More. |
