Prison Based Corrections for Addicts Must Start With the Addict Inmate

We call our prison system by the word "corrections" but many of us who have been involved for decades see the balance more towards incarceration. No one's to blame for this; it's just something that is inevitable when crowding so many addict inmates together in tiny cells for so many years with little personal expectation except to conform to the rules.

In reality and in spite of many good and hard-working staff, our prisons and jails may be inadvertently fostering the process of building better criminal networks in the community.
