|Operation Ceasefire brings together agencies to fight crime in one of Detroit's most violent areas|
|By detroitnews.com - George Hunter|
Detroit— Law enforcement officials, social service providers and clergy members are launching a program aimed at curbing gang violence in what police say is the city’s most dangerous police district.
Operation Ceasefire kicked off Thursday in the Eastern District, which traditionally sees the most shootings in the city. Dozens of parolees and probationers affiliated with gangs were given hand-delivered letters ordering them to show up Thursday at Matrix Human Services on Gratiot to be briefed about the program.
The boundaries of the targeted area are Eight Mile south to Jefferson and Mack and Warren avenues east to Outer Drive.
