Federal inmates generate revenue for county jail

MICHCIGAN - Around the state, communities are grappling with the problem of not having sufficient space to house their inmates.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham recently declared a state of emergency at his jail due to overcrowding. In Oakland County in past years, authorities have had to release inmates because of overcrowding.

In St. Clair County, however, officials say overcrowding is not an issue. A full jail is a good thing, according to Sheriff Tim Donnellon.
