DuBos: DOJ must make investigation into U.S. Attorney's office public

NEW ORLEANS -- Judge Kurt Engelhardt’s decision to give 5 New Orleans cops a new trial in the Danziger Bridge case was obviously a painful one. As the judge noted, the case was always about abuse of authority and corruption of the criminal justice system. Sadly, the abuse and corruption occurred on both sides of the indictments — by cops who shot innocent people, and by federal prosecutors who treated this case, and others, like a sideshow.

Judge Engelhardt’s ruling also dropped a bombshell: former U.S. Attorney Jim Letten knew about online comments by his then-top assistant, Jan Mann.

    Department of justice should have taken this initiative a long time before this happened. I mean just visit this website to see what actually happened with them and why it was needed.
