I've been involved in the criminal justice system for over 30 years. Prior to serving as an attorney in private practice, I served as both a state and a federal prosecutor, as secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and as a circuit judge for 18 years. I presided in both adult criminal court and juvenile court. From that vantage point, and from the perspective of someone who is also a father and a grandfather, I support the Second Chance Bill. This important initiative would return first-time, nonviolent 17-year-old offenders to juvenile court jurisdiction, reversing portions of a law that was passed in 1996. Read More. |
