Muralist leaves mark at Cochise County Juvenile Detention |

To youths who face stints in juvenile detention, finding a positive direction in life and recognizing the potential to change can be tough. Artist Emanuel Martinez offered Cochise County detainees a simple message this week, “You Can (Se Puede).” That’s the title of a mural he helped six of the juveniles paint in one of the Cochise County Juvenile Detention Center hallways. Depicting a row of young people climbing a staircase with books, caps and gowns, and another row coming down the other side dressed as professionals, Martinez encouraged them to follow in his own footsteps.
