A reputed member of the Bloods gang who was arrested on drug distribution and weapons charges broke a corrections officer’s hand during an altercation Wednesday evening at the Passaic County Jail, authorities said Thursday. Jahvon Parker, 23, of Paterson, threatened a corrections officer and attempted to assault him while he was being processed, Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said in a statement. The suspect resisted when the officer attempted to subdue him, Berdnik said. He eventually was subdued with pepper spray. Berdnik said criminal charges would be filed against Parker for the confrontation at the jail, but didn’t specify the charges. Berdnik said Parker had been arrested by city police and charged with possession of drugs with the intent to distribute in a school zone, unlawful possession of a handgun, receiving stolen property and other charges. He was being held at the jail on those charges, with his bail set at $75,000. No other information was available Thursday night about the arrest. Read More. |
