Top deputy plans to run for Mass. AG |

One of state Attorney General Martha Coakley's top deputies plans to announce she wants to replace her boss. Maura Healey, who led Coakley's challenge to the federal Defense of Marriage Act, is expected to make her announcement Monday. Healey tells The Boston Globe that the attorney general's office "should continue to lead the nation as a public law firm." She says she has the experience, judgment, energy, passion, and vision for the job. Coakley has announced that she will run for governor rather than seek re-election as attorney general. Healey, like her boss, is a Democrat. Healey is a former captain of the Harvard University women's basketball team who played two years of professional basketball in Austria. Read More. |
