| Woman pleads guilty for role in state prisons chief's murder |

The woman accused of purchasing a gun that she later gave to a parolee who killed a Denver pizza delivery driver and the Colorado Department of Corrections director in the Colorado Springs area last March has pleaded guilty to the crime. Stevie Vigil entered a guilty plea on Tuesday to a single count of providing a firearm to a felon, the Denver Post reported. She faces up to 10 years in prison, though sentencing guidelines call for 15-40 months, her attorney said. 22-year-old Vigil, of Commerce City, purchased a 9mm Smith & Wesson between March 9 and 13, the investigation revealed. That gun was then given to Evan Ebel, a white supremacist gang member who was released from prison in January, four years early due to a clerical error. Ebel then used the gun to kill the Domino's delivery driver, Nathan Leon, and -- two days later, on March 19, to kill DOC director, Tom Clements. Clements, 58, was shot at his home in Monument as he was opening his front door. Ebel reportedly fled the area and was killed in a shootout with Texas police on March 21. Read More. |
