Utah prisons ban crayons |

SALT LAKE CITY — Like numerous correctional facilities elsewhere, the Utah Department of Corrections no longer will allow some inmates to receive pictures made with crayons and markers because of concerns they may conceal illegal drugs. Envelopes adorned with decorative stickers have been added to the list of banned items at Utah’s state prisons. The prohibition will begin Friday. The primary concern is over Suboxone, a drug used to treat opiate addiction. It comes in a thin strip and can be turned into a paste. Read More. |
