Prisoner re-entry program hits milestone |

RICHMOND Gov. Bob McDonnell is trumpeting a milestone in a Virginia prisoner re-entry program. The governor says the "DMV Connect" program has processed more than 2,000 identification cards for offenders preparing for release back into the community. Through the program, prisons and jails identify inmates soon to be released and help them get paperwork together for a DMV-issued identification card. DMV employees carry a customized case containing a laptop, camera and other equipment into the facility to process the transactions. The new ID card is later mailed to the facility. Read More. |
