McCOOK, Nebraska -- Leaving prison was almost as frightening as going in, according to Brandon Kreuger. The 25-year-old remembers the sense of dread he felt when he was released from a Nebraska penitentiary. After being incarcerated, easing back into a community can be terrifying, Krueger said, if there is no sense of purpose or goal. "You've been out of society for a few years or more and if you don't get into any programs, it has a dizzying effect," he said. But when Krueger was sentenced to the Nebraska Department of Corrections Work Ethic Camp in McCook, he took advantage of the educational opportunities available and is now going full-time to college.
