Luke Schmidt, 21, of Greensburg, is in intensive care following a single-vehicle accident on Highway 421 early Monday morning. Schmidt was traveling southbound on Highway 421 near County Road 200 South in a 1996 Ford F150 when he drifted off the road on the left side and struck three large trees. He hit the third tree head-on, reported Decatur County Sheriff Greg Allen. Allen said he requested an Indiana State Trooper to investigate the scene of the accident. Preliminary findings at the scene indicated that Schmidt had fallen asleep prior to leaving the road, Allen said. Read More. |
