| Four Get Prison Sentences At Law Day Tuesday |

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, during Douglas County Law Day proceedings, Judge Craig Carter sentenced four defendants to the Missouri Department of Corrections. The following convictions were pronounced, according to the office of Douglas County Prosecuting Attorney Roger Wall. Gary Turnbull, 46, of Ava, was sentenced to three years in prison for felony assault in the 2nd degree. The offense occurred on Sept. 10, 2012 and was investigated by the Douglas County Sheriffs Department. Jared Day, 31, of Ava, was sentenced to three years in prison for possession of controlled substance and for receiving stolen property. The sentences will run concurrently. The offenses occurred July 21, 2013 and July 9, 2013, respectively, and the cases were investigated by the Douglas County Sheriffs Department. Jesse Pickel, 18, of Theodosia, was sentenced to three years in prison for four counts of burglary in the 2nd degree, and one count of felony stealing. All sentences are to run concurrently.
