Inmate files lawsuit after falling from bed |

An inmate is suing Iowa prison officials after he fell out of a bunk bed at the penitentiary in Anamosa, injuring his back, neck and shoulders. Samuel Tooson, 29, filed the lawsuit earlier this month in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids. It claims prison staff ignored his request to be assigned to a lower bunk while he was on psychotropic medications. The suit claims that because of the drugs' adverse side effects, Tooson fell from the bunk Tooson is convicted of first-degree harassment and carrying weapons stemming from an August 2003 incident. He is now at Fort Dodge Correctional Facility. |
