Probation and parole office fire bombed

Probation and parole officials believe one of their offenders may have tried to burn down their office on Gold this morning.

Someone threw a fire bomb into the window of the probation office 111 Gold early Friday morning. No one was inside at the time, so no one was hurt. But it did some damage.

Cabinet Secretary for the New Mexico Department of Corrections Gregg Marcantel says he believes an offender was either trying to get out of reporting to their officer or was trying to burn the place down to destroy the records.

"Neither one of them is going to work. One, you're going to get your urine analysis either way. Two, our files are electronic and so you can't burn digital evidence," Marcantel said.
