A Hillsborough County Jail (Fla.) inmate was back behind bars last Wednesday morning after officials say he escaped by switching identification wristbands with a prisoner who was scheduled to be released. Antonio James Bell was arrested last Tuesday, one day after he walked out of the Orient Road Jail. Bell had been arrested over the weekend on crack cocaine possession charges. Officials say he switched wristbands with James Prince, who was scheduled to be released Monday night. Bell walked out in his place and minutes later a truck was stolen from the jail parking lot. Bell is now charged with escape along with his original cocaine charges. Prince's release on cocaine sale and possession charges have been rescinded. |
