Virginia - A state inspector general’s report issued in February determined that community service boards were not consistently calling state facilities when trying to place somebody in an emergency psychiatric case, and warned that the failure to use state facilities could potentially place “both the individual and the community at risk.” That’s the same office that announced Wednesday it was investigating the circumstances Monday night where Rockbridge Community Services board officials say the CSB was trying to place Austin “Gus” Deeds and had to let him go because it couldn’t locate a psychiatric bed in the region, though Western State Hospital officials later said that they had space and did not get a call from Rockbridge CSB on Monday.
