A prisoner escaped from the Contra Costa County Main Jail, and he is believed to be somewhere in downtown Martinez, according to Contra Costa County (Calif.) Sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee. The prisoner was on a loading dock of the prison around 4 p.m. when he overpowered a civilian employee and escaped. Lee identified the prisoner as Michael Tenuto, who is not believed to be dangerous. Tenuto had spent 10 days of a 90-day drug-violation sentence in the jail. Because he has escaped he'll now automatically spend at least a year in jail, according to Lee. Authorities describe Tenuto as a 42-year-old white man, 6 feet 3 inches tall, about 220 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He took off his jail clothing and is believed to be in his boxer shorts and T-shirt, Lee said. |

After reviewing the video, the Tribune discovered Tenuto didn't over power a guard, he simply walked out an open door. He then knock on a nearby house and asked if he could please use the phone. When the man said "no", tenuto said "OK I am sorry I disturbed you, by." After reviewing court records all charges except the escape were dismissed. OaklandTribune
