Corrections Officer Charged With Theft from Prisoner |

A North Alabama corrections officer has been arrested for allegedly stealing money from a prisoner. DeKalb County, Ala. Sheriff Jimmy Harris said the incident was first reported in late September. A joint investigation was opening by federal immigration officials and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office after a man complained that $325 in cash was missing from his property after he had been booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center. As a result of the investigation, John Weston Culpepper, 28, was arrested Wednesday. Culpepper, a Corrections Officer at the DeKalb County Detention Center, is charged with 3rd degree theft. He has been fired from his job.
