| Montgomery County corrections officers to vote on union |

Correctional officers at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility will vote Dec. 16 on whether to allow Teamsters Local 384 of Norristown to represent them as a union. Recent interviews in the media with Teamsters Local 384 business agent and organizer Chris O’Donnell, along with anonymous pro-union corrections officers, made the prison out to be a crumbling facility that is short-staffed and in need of reform, but a corrections officer at the prison, who spoke to The Times Herald on the condition of anonymity, said this week those reports are not true. “My whole thing was when this article came out, I was just appalled,” said the officer, who wore an MCCF pullover shirt during the interview. “I can’t believe officers we actually work with went there and degraded us and made us look like complete trash.” Corrections officers work with a number of agencies outside of the prison, the officer said, and the union vote was not worth getting a bad reputation.
