CONCORD — The state Department of Corrections has opened a new resource center at the Victim Services Bureau at the New Hampshire State Prison for Men.

The new center is dedicated to Peter Michaud, the longtime victim services coordinator for the Department of Corrections. Michaud created the Victim Services Division in 1997 and managed it up until his death in February 2013. The new center includes a waiting room and a private meeting room for survivors and victims of crime to speak in privacy while seeking the support after a crime that affected their lives.

"Victims and survivors of crime are impacted in different ways and we have a responsibility to provide support and assistance to these individuals so that they can move forward in their lives in a positive way," said William L. Wrenn, commissioner of the Department of Corrections. "The establishment of this resource Center will have that positive impact of those who take advantage of it."
