Wyoming Department of Corrections Director Bob Lampert earns national honor |

Wyoming Department of Corrections Director Bob Lampert was recently named the 2013 Outstanding Corrections Director in the Nation by the Association of State Correctional Administrators. Lampert became director of Wyoming DOC in November 2003. He is a Marine Corps veteran with more than 37 years of correctional experience. According to a media release, Lampert has worked to shift the DOC’s focus from hardline incarceration to include other strategies. He obtained $139 million in funding for the expansion of five facilities, increased staffing levels by 32 percent and worked for a mother/child integration facility and residential program for high-risk sex offenders in the medium security prison. “As a direct result of his innovative efforts in outcome-based programming for inmates, recidivism has declined by 13 percent since his arrival in 2003,” the release states.
