Another officer under scrutiny in inmate abuse case |

Days after a Marion County Sheriff's Office corrections officer was arrested, accused of slamming the head of a handcuffed man into the concrete wall at the county jail as he was being arrested on a DUI charge, another corrections officer has been given notice that an investigation will be conducted involving him. In the meantime, authorities said the timeline leading up to the corrections officer's arrest was not covered up and that the complaint was investigated as soon as it became known. Officials said an internal review process began and the intensity increased when the State Attorney's Office signaled it wanted a criminal investigation done on the matter. Corrections Officer Alex Dickson has been given a notice of a pending investigation, which MCSO spokesman Capt. James Pogue said lets Dickson know that it may result in disciplinary actions against him. Pogue said at the conclusion of the investigation, Dickson will be notified of the finding. The investigation against Dickson is in connection with the Oct. 8 incident, and it will determine if he broke any department policies or procedures.
