Published: 10/29/2004

A former corrections officer has been found not guilty in connection with a fight that left a teen inmate confined to a wheel chair.
Joseph Roberts, 18, was left paralyzed after the 2002 incident at the juvenile correctional facility in Plainfield.
A Hendricks County (Ind.) jury acquitted former officer Shawn James of three charges, including battery. Even though the criminal trial is over, Roberts has filed a civil suit against James.
