| Green Haven corrections officer injured |

A corrections officer sustained minor injuries Saturday at Green Haven Correctional Facility in the Town of Beekman. The inmate, while being escorted, struck the corrections officer in the face, State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Spokesman Thomas Mailey said today. A struggle then took place to gain control of the inmate, he said. A responding officer assisted in apply mechanical restraints on the inmate. The officer who was injured was treated at a local hospital for minor swelling and redness on his cheek, Mailey said. The inmate has been charged internally with assault on a staff member, he said.
