Cardinal Timothy Dolan made a special Christmas Eve trip to Rikers Island to say mass for the inmates and Department of Corrections staff at the George Motchan Detention Center. He brought a message of hope and redemption during his sermon. Dolan says he tries to visit all 45 correctional facilities covered by the Archdiocese. "I try to get to them three or four times a year, particularly near Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and Christmas especially because that's when they really feel, who wouldn't want to be home on Christmas?
