Suspected killer Anthony Garcia charged with assaulting officers |

A thinner, grayer and bearded Anthony Garcia found himself before a judge again on Tuesday – this time on charges that he assaulted two Douglas County corrections officers. Bail was set at $50,000. However, it's moot as Garcia already is being held without bail on four counts of first-degree murder. Garcia is charged with killing Roger and Mary Brumback on May 14 and 11-year-old Thomas Hunter and his house cleaner, Shirlee Sherman, in 2008. When asked if he understood the most recent charges against him, Garcia responded: "Not really." After a judge outlined the accusations, Garcia changed his response: "I understand that." According to a Douglas County Sheriff's Office report, Garcia kicked a guard in the ribs and punched another correctional officer. The incident happened Friday morning after a Douglas County Jail guard told Garcia he had to return to his cell. Garcia said he needed more time because he was not able to successfully place a call to his attorneys, said Alison Motta, Garcia's lawyer. The call wasn't going through, Motta said. Read More. |
