Prison programs aim to reduce recidivism, give inmates job skills |

GRAFTON — Officials and inmates at the Grafton Reintegration Center on Monday highlighted some of the unique programs that are aimed to reduce recidivism rates. And they had good reason to. U.S. Senator Rob Portman, an Ohio Republican, visited the prison at 2500 S. Avon Belden Road as an effort to showcase his new prison reform legislation. Portman, who originally authored the Second Chance Act geared toward supporting state and local re-entry programs to reduce recidivism, has introduced new bipartisan legislation that would allow inmates to earn sentence reduction credit for completing programs that help them re-enter society.
