DOC whistleblower lawsuit heading to trial in June |

A lawsuit alleging a former Department of Corrections employee was fired for whistleblowing is scheduled for a weeklong jury trial starting June 16, court records show. Rob Killgore was fired in March from his job as head of Oregon’s prison industries agency. He sued in April for $1.5 million alleging wrongful discharge, discrimination and retaliation for whistleblowing. Corrections Director Colette Peters fired him just weeks after the Department of Justice completed an investigation into a variety of allegations Killgore made against officials in the department. Peters insisted the two events were not connected. “People may make assumptions or draw conclusions, but the idea of retaliation couldn’t be further from the truth. This change had nothing to do with the criminal investigation,” she said in March. Read More. |
