A Watertown Correctional Facility employee has filed a federal lawsuit against the prison’s former superintendent whom she claims sexually harassed her for over three years at the state facility. In a complaint filed Oct. 28, through the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, defendant Kristine E. Crossway, 45, who is employed as a captain’s secretary at the medium-security prison, said former facility Superintendent Ekpe D. Ekpe promised job security in return for sexual intercourse. L. Graeme Spicer, Esq., of Syracuse law firm Levine & Blit, PLLC, said Ms. Crossway specifically chose his firm to represent her because it specializes in employee discrimination suits. According to the document, Mr. Ekpe began giving Ms. Crossway “unsolicited gifts” and weekly hugs that became “sexually charged” by April 2009, a little over a year after the female employee was hired at the facility at 23147 Swan Rd. “Basically, it started with hugging, touching, kissing, fondling breasts and rubbing up against my client,” Mr. Spicer said. “It turned into demands for sex quid ‘pro quo,’ which essentially is, ‘Have sex with me and your job is safe’.” Read More. |
