A former Nevada prison lieutenant has been spared prison time for taking bribes to allow prisoner conjugal visits and for falsifying time sheets. A Clark County (Nev.) District Court judge said he gave Tony Carlysle a break -- fining him seven-thousand dollars and sentencing him last week to five years probation. Carlysle pleaded guilty in June to conspiracy to commit misconduct by a public officer -- a gross misdemeanor. He was accused of arranging sexual contact for inmates and of falsifying time sheets at Southern Desert Correctional Center in Indian Springs. Conjugal visits aren't allowed in Nevada prisons. Carlysle apologized in court -- saying he lost his 10-year career in corrections, his pension and the respect of his family. |
