BOISE — Two inmates who escaped from a prison in northern Idaho over the weekend are back in custody after their capture in Washington, Idaho Department of Correction Public Information Officer Jeff Ray said. Caleb Joe Thomas, 20, and Ridge Scott Dains, 21, both convicted of crimes in Canyon County, escaped from the North Idaho Corrections Institution on Saturday, according to an earlier statement. They were discovered missing shortly after 12 a.m., prompting activation of IDOC’s Emergency Response Team and notification to local law enforcement, who spotted footprints leading away in the snow. They were arrested Monday in a stolen vehicle outside Walla Walla, Wash., the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office reported. IDOC investigators are conducting a thorough review of the events leading up to the incident, Ray stated. Thomas and Dains may face additional charges in connection with their escape. Read More. |
