Another incident involving an inmate and corrections officer has occurred at the Orleans Correctional Facility. According to Mike Dildine, Western Region vice president of the New York State Corrections Officers Police Benevolent Association, at about 1:10 a.m. Saturday, an inmate rushed onto the podium in a dormitory which houses 60 inmates. He quickly placed the officer in a headlock and began screaming, “They are after me. I’m gonna kill you.” The inmate attempted to grab the officer’s telephone, but the officer was able to call for backup assistance. Throughout the whole incident, until responding officers could place the inmate in mechanical restraints, the convict was screaming, “I’m God. I will kill everyone.” The officer sustained back injuries as well as a laceration on his arm, due to the struggle, Dildine said. Read More. |
