Watson to take Dept of Corrections to court |

Lawyers representing convicted double murderer Scott Watson are taking the Department of Corrections to court. Watson is serving a life sentence, with a minimum non-parole period of 17 years, for the murder of Ben Smart and Olivia Hope in the Marlborough Sounds in January 1998. He denies the killings. His legal team filed an application with the High Court in Christchurch today, seeking to force a decision from the Chief Executive Ray Smith, in regards to a meeting between Watson and Olivia's father Gerald Hope.
