Probe into prison may lead to charges for prosecutors

Two prosecutors could face charges of being negligent for their role in convicted November 17 member Christodoulos Xeros being granted prison furloughs.

Xeros disappeared while on a nine-day leave earlier this month and has since vowed to return to terrorism.

An investigation into how a terrorist serving six life sentences was allowed out of Korydallos Prison by the Piraeus appeals prosecutor’s office has collected evidence that could be damning for the two prosecutors, one of whom was the first to grant Xeros a furlough in 2011.

The other prosecutor awarded the former instrument maker his seventh, and most recent, pass.
