Mentors needed for incarcerated juvenile program

The Virginia Department of Corrections needs mentors to help incarcerated juveniles in need of positive guidance and support to become productive adults.

The department’s Re-Entry Mentoring Program helps prepare juvenile offenders for successful returns to their communities and is intended to provide the youths with a supportive adult who can offer academic support, guidance and job preparation.

The program matches volunteers with juvenile correctional center residents expected to be released within 120 days. Mentors are in high demand at the Bon Air and the Beaumont juvenile correctional centers.
