FLORENCE, AZ - An inmate at an Arizona prison has died after getting into a confrontation with another inmate, authorities said Sunday. Officials with the Arizona Department of Corrections said 25-year-old Marcelo Gonzalez died at the Arizona State Prison Complex in Florence, Ariz. after getting into a confrontation with another inmate, identified as Jonathan Williams, 24, according to a news release. The prison is currently locked down, said Bill Lamoreaux, spokesman for the Arizona Department of Corrections. According to the release, around 8:31 a.m., one of the inmates tried to gain access into the other inmate's enclosure by creating a hole in the bottom fencing. The inmates were outside in adjacent recreation enclosures, said Lamoreaux. Corrections officers responded and restrained Williams, according to officials.
