Officials claim progress at troubled Stockton prison |

STOCKTON - Officials said on Tuesday progress is being made at the new Stockton prison and medical facility where sanitation and supply issues shut down admissions. The California Health Care - Stockton has space for 1,700 inmates with serious medical issues. After the recent problems were discovered, the federal receiver overseeing the operation of the facility suspended new admissions. The current inmate population is just over 1,300. "We're focusing on solving the issues. Until they're resolved we won't accept more patients," California Correctional Health Care Services Information Officer Liz Gransee said. Read More. |
