County board responds to jail staffing concerns |

ESCANABA - The Delta County Board of Commissioners has approved sending a response to the Michigan Department of Corrections regarding additional staffing levels at the Delta County Jail. The county received a letter in January from the Michigan Department of Corrections (DOC) noting the existing staffing level at the jail is not consistent with the intent of one of its administrative rules. "It is our opinion staff are being routinely required to perform significant amounts of ancillary services and/or removed from their assigned post duties to support other staff to perform joint custody and security functions," the letter reads.
