| Congressmen weigh in on college-in-prison proposal |

Three upstate Republican congressmen are weighing in against Gov. Andrew Cuomo's plan to provide free college courses for inmates, introducing a bill that would prohibit states from using federal funds on such a program. Cuomo's plan, which was announced earlier this month, would provide state funds to allow one prison in 10 regions of the state to provide college coursers to their prisoners. His office estimates the cost to be about $5,000 per each inmate that opts for the program. Read More. |
