Two North Carolina women have been charged in connection with the escape of a man from a minimum-security state prison in Lexington over the weekend. Brandy Nicole Blackwell and Tanzy Sunshine Lanier were arrested last Monday in Randolph County. Authorities said 45-year-old Eldridge Hodge walked away from a work detail last Sunday night. He and another inmate were working in a building outside the prison gates where civilian clothing is stored for inmates who have court appearances or who are released. Hodge slipped away while two women waited for him in a vehicle. Hodge was convicted in Forsyth County in March 1982 of rape and sentenced to a maximum of 99 years. |
