A PRISONERS’ political party is demanding that the May 7 elections be scrapped until more inmates are enabled to vote and political campaigns are allowed at Department of Correctional Services facilities. South Africa’s election this year marks the 20th anniversary of democracy, which has seen more voices scrambling to be heard as new political parties enter the fray. Corrections and Civil Rights Movement (CCRM) leader Miles Bhudu on Tuesday said his party wanted the R120 required when prisoners apply for ID documents to be scrapped. Read More. |
